Working with Event Ordering of Master Pages and Content Pages in ASP.NET 2.0

Event Ordering:
When you work with master pages and content pages, both can use the same events (such as Page_Load). Be sure you know which events come before others for this combination to work and making your own life easier. You are bringing two classes together to create a single page class, and a specific order is required. When an end user requests a content page in the browser, the event ordering is the following:

❑ Master page child controls initialization: All server controls contained within the master page are first initialized.

❑ Content page child controls initialization: All server controls contained in the content page are initialized.

❑ Master page initialization: The master page itself is initialized.

❑ Content page initialization: The content page is initialized.

❑ Content page load: The content page is loaded (this is the Page_Load event followed by the Page_LoadComplete event).

❑ Master page load: The master page is loaded (this is also the Page_Load event followed by the Page_LoadComplete event).

❑ Master page child controls load: The server controls on the master page are loaded onto the page.

❑ Content page child controls load: The server controls on the content page are loaded onto the page.

Pay attention to this event ordering when building your applications. If you want to use server control values that are contained on the master page within a specific content page, for example, you can’t retrieve the values of these server controls from within the content page’s Page_Load event. This is because this event is triggered before the master page’s Page_Load event. This problem prompted the creation of the new Page_LoadComplete event. The content page’s Page_LoadComplete event follows the master page’s Page_Load event. You can, therefore, use this ordering to get at values from the master page even though it isn’t populated when the content page’s Page_Load event is triggered.
Introduction of Master pages facilitated Visual Inheritance and having a clear understanding of the order of events fired when the Master page and Content pages are in action will help to utilize this feature to its maximum. Enjoy Programing...!!

Very touchy story with a message....

I was walking around in a BigBazar store making shopping, when I saw a Cashier talking to a boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old. The Cashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this doll. Then the little boy turned to me and asked: ''auntie, are you sure I don't have enough money?'' I counted his cash and replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy the doll, my dear.'' The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. 'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much .I wanted to Gift her for her BIRTHDAY. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.' His eyes were so sad while saying this.'My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.'' My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.' Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me 'I want mommy to take my picture with her so my sister won't forget me.' 'I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.' Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly. I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?'' 'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money. The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!' Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!'' 'I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose. My mommy loves white roses.' I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy? Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.. I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him. Please DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE.

MBA Correspondence OR Part time...real confusion... :(

Thought and Confusion:
Being a working professional whenever you think of pursuing a management course, the choice narrows down to a Part time course or distance education (if you are not in a position to quit your current job and opt for a regular course)... the confusion is which one is better, hard to say...

May be this will help:
Both have their own pros and cons... You need to analyse your situation and current work environment before making a decision...When you are in a job that has got fixed time schedule and you can manage time on regular basis, then part time MBA is better option as after a regular course in management, it comes closest second. But if you are working in a flexi-timing environment, need to travel frequently and there are numerous other reasons due to which you are not able to manage time to visit your study center regularly then Part time MBA is not your cup of tea. Better if you consider distance education provided you are motivated enough to finish it off.

How to get into it:
More or less all the good MBA colleges have both part time as well as distance education on offer. Symbiosis, NMIMS, ICFAI...you name the college and the courses are available. Part time MBA requires you to go through a simple aptitude test which may be followed by an interview or case analysis and presentation whereas in case of distance education you get direct admission if you have 50% marks in your graduation. Part time courses generally start in the month of May/June while correspondence courses have two batches (one starts in July and the other in January).

Benefits:
If you consider the benefits of having an MBA degree under your belt then nothing will come close to a regular course from good management institutions but a part time MBA or MBA through distance education mode gives you an edge over your colleagues in your current job. If you are in a lead position then this degree may help you to get into the middle level managerial position little easily. Even when you switch job, the MBA degree, in addition to your regular qualification, comes handy and put little extra weight on you resume making it easier for you to bargain for a better position and of course better pay package.

Go for it:
So be it part time or through distance education, you should opt for a management course to brighten your career....and if you have decided for it, earlier you start the better it is... ALL THE BEST...!!

Triseries cricket final today...India holds upper hand...!!

Despite the abysmal track record of Indian cricket team in the finals, they start as firm favorites in the triseries final to be held today in Bangladesh. The recent rampaging form of the Indian top order batsmen especially the performance of Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir with good support from middle order batsmen have given them enough runs on the board to defend. While in the bowling department Praveen Kumar has given early break through to put them in comfortable position. Although he lacks that fiery pace but his swing bowling and exceptional control over line and length has been devastating for the opposition. India will be expecting a similar performance from their in form players to clinch the trophy.
A win here today will add another feather in the cap for Mahendra Singh Dhoni who has already sailed his team to success against Pakistan at home and in CB series against Australia.
Pakistan has a lot of areas to cover but if they can restrict the Indian opening duo they can test the mettle of Indian middle order. Again while batting wickets will be key for them. They need to see through the first spell of Praveen Kumar without taking much of risk and then they can throw their bats against fifth bowler. All said and done but Pakistan really need to pull up their socks in big way to be competitive enough else the final may again be an one sided affair.
While this is a battle between arch rivals, the frequency of matches being played between the two sides have taken the edge off this match, still the final has a lot to offer for cricket lovers and we all are waiting with bated breadth for the match to begin…ENJOY..!!
